If you are not aware, Bootstrap is a CSS styling framework that makes sure your website is responsive. It also has a lot of functionality that makes website development quick and easy.
While Bootstrap should be used simply as a crutch (and not a way to fully design your site), George in our office tends to use it on every site he develops for its ease of use. He makes sure and have the design made in Photoshop first before transferring it over to Bootstrap.
Bootstrap – with its grid system – helps makes sure that you can make your website responsive and exactly how you need it to be. Setting up rows and columns has never been easier! The grid system works off a 12-column system. So if you want two columns you add the class .col-sm-6 to two divs. If you want four columns you add the class .col-sm-3 to four divs. This makes sure your columns are made quickly, easily, and always responsive.
Bootstrap has some great internal functions, and George has a favorite:
“Bootstrap Modals are so useful! Bootstrap modals open a window on the page while fading the background. This is often referred to as a lightbox. I have used modals for a large variety of things like custom galleries, PDF viewers, pop up ads, email signups, alerts, confirmation boxes, and more. That is the beauty of Bootstrap is your imagination is the limit! I’ve only covered a tiny fraction of what Bootstrap can do. Really the options are limitless.”
